Wawa Walls of History

It is with great anticipation that Wawa’s Adult Learning Centre announces our newest project…  “Wawa Walls of History”. Our plan is to host several open houses during the summer of 2017. The public will be invited to drop in to browse our pictorial display of Wawa’s past, enjoy a digital presentation, and share stories and snacks. We will focus on several areas of interesting history, including “This Old House”, a look at the changing faces of buildings in our communities (Wawa, Hawk Junction, Michipicoten River Village), pioneers, community events, and a closer look at our hey-days (the late 50’s, 60’s and 70’s)!

At this time, we are in the process of collecting memories (old photos, newspaper articles, and other memorabilia). We are hoping that all Wawaites, past and present, will help us out. Do you have something to share? We will ask that you sign a release form before we copy or share any of your mementoes.

If you have noticed the posters around town, you are also aware that the local library is collecting pictures and articles too. They have already initiated a digital collection for your perusal. It can be found at wawahistory.wawa.ca. That site is a treasure trove of the past and we encourage you to visit there. We intend to collaborate as we step back in time!

If you are in town, you can share with us by dropping in to 50B Broadway Avenue, Monday through Thursday from 9 to 4. We can scan and copy your pictures/articles and return them to you or we can pick up your package and drop it back to you. If you are out of town, please email your contributions to info.nalcwawa@gmail.com. Or send to Adult Learning Centre, Box 1387, Wawa, ON, P0S 1K0

Thank you, in advance, to all who are willing to share!

Pat Dubé,

Thank You to all those who donated there time, photos, and documents.

We did it together!
