Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha attended an Open House at the North Algoma Literacy Coalition on June 25th, 2013 held to showcase their newly acquired furnishings thanks in part to a $34,400 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). MPP Mantha joined NALC board members and staff to survey the new learning center and welcome users.

“It is great to see a well-deserving organization receive funds to advance an important initiative in Algoma-Manitoulin. With this funding the North Algoma Literacy Coalition will better be able to further literacy and promote lifelong learning in our community.  Education plays an important role in the development of our community, and I applaud the North Algoma Literacy Coalition’s efforts to keep Algoma vibrant.” Michael Mantha, MPP Algoma-Manitoulin.

“We have used this grant to purchase furniture that provides adult learners, from Wawa and area, a workspace equipped with modern and ergonomically friendly work stations. We are thankful for the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s commitment to supporting Anglophone and Francophone education in the community.” Lisa Houston, Program Director, North Algoma Literacy Coalition.
